Hi MOm!! Well, the best thing that happened last week... um, the office gave us a new visual to use while we are working, its very helpful. So this week was ok, just doing the usual, finding and teaching. My comp and I were a little sick this week, my comp was sicker than I was.. he was throwing up in the middle of the night. But now we are perfectly fine, and hoping for somebaptisms. Wow! So Ben is AP huh! I knew it! And he speaks really good samoan! Thats great! I Havent heard much from Perry in a while.
Well, I got your packages! Thanks for the update, I miss watching football! Helams going to be an animal in High School.. Funny story: last night my comp and I were walking in the street, finding and stuff.. and up walks to us this young but very drunk guy. He starts off by saying, Hello! Hey you mister... and usually thats the extent of peoples english. They usually talk to us like that, and laugh at us.. so we thought that this was just another drunk guy. Then he started speaking english, he explained that he loves the language, and that he learned in high school... its was a funny surprise, even though he was real drunk, he spoke fairly good english.
Yeah, so things are pretty normal, the missionary life can be kind of monotonous. Just because we have a set schedule, but everything is going fine. Well, I love you Mom! Thank you for everything that you do! Take care of everyone!
September 17, 2007 - Best Thing That Happened This Week
Hi Mom!! Well, things are looking better here in Mapasinge, this past sunday we were able to bring about 9 investigators to church, three of them have a baptismal date, so pretty soon we should have some baptisms here. the best thing that happened was when we had those 9 people at church... it was great.
Well, happy anniversary Mom and Dad. I completely forgot, and feel very inconsiderate. Thankyou so much for the packages.. i got the ones with the reeses peanut butter cups which were just awesome by the way. Thank you so much!!
Well, Im happy that you got to meet some of the missionary moms, youre pretty much famous around here. Oh, and to answer the question from Uncle Hema, there arent any missionaries from draper that I know of, that are going home soon.. sorry. But could you tell uncle Hema and Mari thank you for the letter!

Well, it s a hot sunny P day, and I thought that I would drop you a line! Im sorry that I havent been able to write for a while.. but now I can, and thats what Im doing.Haha, well I heard about Helams hand.. I bet it looks funny. things are all good down here, I am just keeping the other missionaries motivated, and preparing things for Elder Dávila, hes coming from the area presidency to check up on the mission!
Last month I only had about 3 baptisms, and this month, we are working to get 8! Which is pretty hard in this new sector, and new zone, but we can do it. For the time being, Im fine and dont need anything, just keep having the family pray for our investigators, that always helps us out! September 10, 2007 - Abide with me
HI mom!! My new zone is great, its a powerful zone.. we´ve got 6 sister missionaries, and 14 elders. Mostly a latin zone, but we´ve got a few gringos: My comp and I, Sister Pepperdine from Utah, Sister Nielson from New MExico, ELder Palmer who will go home soon is from Lindon Utah, Elder Ruppe from Lindon also, Elder Raney from Chicago (whose brother also served here) and Elder Bryan from Salt Lake.
Last week, was pretty normal, it was a very sunny week over here. I think that the BEST thing that happened was when we had Consejo, and On sunday I met a woman(White woman) from Utah who speaks 5 languages... she works at the consulate US, and she says that a lot of mormons work for the government. Other than that the week kinda was slow because on sunday all of our investigators couldnt come to church. Its so hard to get them there, and I swear that Ive tried everyhting. The first two weeks in a change are the most important, and the baptisms in the rest of the change depends on whether you had investigators at church or not. So we are kinda in a planning stage, trying to get the investigators going.
Wow! SO youguys actually found Antimony huh? That is amazing, like a needle in a haystack thing.. Im so glad that Tony is coming home soon.. then hell be able to go on a mission. So Grandma and Grandpa are going on a mission!! Wow! Where are they going? To the temple, or to an other mission? It so good to hear that Maveu got his call!! He is goign to lose alot of weight in Brasil. Hopefully the rest of the Murray, and Heimuli boys get moving to their missions.
In Consejo, I played a version of ¨Abide with me¨ on the guitar, and I sang, and my companion sang harmony. Everyone loved it, and now the office elders want me to make a rendition of ¨Families can be together forever¨ for a video that the mision is going to make, about the families! Im working on that, and I kinda get frustrated because my guitar is crappy, but oh well...
Well, its true, come November I will lack 6 months. I dont know what Im goign to do exactly though. I havent thought on where I want to go either... I do know of some things that I do want to do: I want to take French and learn that language, I do need a job too, a want to start working to save money as soon as I get home (Maybe a job where I can speak spanish that isnt Taco Bell). I want to play music too, Im still not sure what I want to study in college yet (Im leaning more towards buisiness..). So, If you could just look around the colleges in Utah or around Utah, maybe you could narrow my choices down, and I will be able to pray, and think about where I want to go while Im still in the mission.

September 3, 2007 - The mission has changed my life, and yet...
Wow!! I cant believe that!! Helam is the MAN! I so would have started crying and stuff if that had happened to me.. I so cant wait to watch football when I get home, its going to be sweet. So far its really hot here. Well, I dont know if you know, but there have been alot of changes around here: Th old ZOne that I was in, no longer exists.. the sector that we worked in, was in such good shape that the Assistents decided to takeover it, :) and we are opening a sector. That means that we are working in a sector that hasnt been worked in by full time missionaries for a long time, I guess the President really trusts us or something? But it is a weird sector, it comprises of the two extremes. Mapasingue, which is poor, and Los Ceibos which is where President Ridd lives. Its kinda exciting, but nothing really interesting is going on.
We have a whole new zone, that we have to get excited.. and a whole new sector/city that we have to baptize.

August 27, 2007 - Rich Part, Poor Part
Hi mom!! Things, are a little hectic around here... Whats happening is that they are rearranging the Stakes here in Guayaquil, so the stakes are changing. If the stakes are changing, then, the ZOnes to whch we are assigned are changed also.. so now I have a whole new zone, and a whole new sector. The good news is that President Ridd is now in my sector!! He lives in the richest part of Guayquil... and the other half of the sector is called Mapasingue, the poorest part... theyre in the same stake! Im kinda worried that the differances will cause tension in the ward... but I think everything will be alright. My companion and I have left one of our favoritest sectors, so we are a little sad right now. We left a lot of good families, members and friends. Im in a mix of emotions right now, for example, I cant seem to trust my sector into the hands of other ELders! What if they arent patient enough! What if they arent loving enough? What will happen with our converts?
I am also way excited to open up another sector... especially a new reorganized sector, It just means that the President has alot of confidence in me an my comp. The only part that frustrates me is that we have to move out of the house and pack up all the things in there. That is not fun. We had to update my Area Book.. which is used to measure the progress in an area, we wrote a bunch of little notes so that the next missionaries could pick up where we left off. Im happy because we took Ernesto (the chilean that killed someone a long time ago) to talk with the president to see if he could get baptized... because he was serving in the chilean FBI back then.. the president said that because of the circumstances, he could be baptized in a couple of weeks, when he completely quits smoking! Also, we had a bunch of other families that can get baptized, and they are excited to do it! Last night, we had 3 baptisms and they went great! It was a small family that we had been struggling with for a few good weeks now! So when they got baptized, I was like.... WWWWAAAAHHHHOOOO!! I was so happy that they finally got dunked.
Well this week we have a lot ahead of us, we are going to have to find a lot this week, and try to get something starteed in our new sector. Well, Thank you for the packages again mom! Thank Dad for me too! Sounds like Helam has a great game ahead of him! I hope that he does well... tell everyone hi! LOVe you MOM!

August 20, 2007 - We were going to have a baptism, but the guy had someone killed
Hi Mom!! Well, last weekend was pretty hard... we´re in a weird situation right now. We have been working hard, doing everything right, but no one has gotten baptized yet. We were going to have a baptism last week, but turns out that the guy had had someone killed decades ago. Hes a great guy, and we worked hard with him, he wants to get baptized...but cant. Hes come so far, and he is just such a sweet guy..
On Friday, I got your packages just in time for our last Zone meeting in the change. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! The sisters were so happy! And the perfume samples were such a good idea! I would have never have thought of those. THe sisters all say thank you! One Sister Vial (From Oregon) says thank you.. she has written a card for you. I dont know when Ill be able to get it to you. Im so grateful that I have such a cool Mom! Serights like, Your mom is so cool! Im still working on trying to get them motivated! Yeah, so the gifts were the most exciting, and the best thing that happened to me this week. Tell everyone thank you fo the letters, I LOVED them! I always love to hear from the kids (Hevynn, who the freak is Connor? ...you shouldnt be thinking that boys are cute, because we arent..but if he is cute, does he have an older sister?) Anyways, Im just working away like usual, hoping that Gods children will accept us into their homes. I am looking forward to going home though... I miss the family.
