January 2, 2007 - Feliz Ano Nuevo! Burn, baby, burn!

HI MOM!!! Well, it was great talking to you guys! Things are going well down here!

Tell everyone thank you for me, for the letters that I got for christmas.... Im trying to write to everyone personally, just to thank them for the gifts.

I didnt want to make like a generalized letter, its more personal this way. I have a lot of letters to write, I espècially want to keep those of my friends whom are at home or on the mission optimistic... in the mission field its really easy to feel depressed, or insignificant. Sometimes the work just goes slow no matter what you do, and its really easy to feel unappreciated. So Im working on writting to my missionary friends like Carly... also, I cant imagine what its like to be AT HOME, and feel insignificant. Usually, out here we missionaries feel like,¨ Huh, well... I cant really see my individual worth, when everyone around us has reallly differant values. Do I really make a difference? Why cant I see it?¨ In the Real World, its much easier to see that which makes you useful, or the progress of your labor. Missionaries judge their individual worth, and their progress, by the progress of those that they teach. And as each investigator excercises their Agency, sometimes it causes the misionaries to feel a little down. However, we do understand that as long as we try, we are doing that which the Lord asks of us. So, mom, if anything.. worry about K, and people like her. Help them to see that she is progressing, that they are getting things done.... young adult members usually dont feel like they are progressing, until they get married! So, thats why I think life is a little harder for them right now.

Well, my new years was cool, what happens it that they have things here called, Año viejo.... what happens is we make like a man out of paper maché, and we clothe him, then in the evening we burn him!! Well, we made a missionary año viejo, we used my old tie that I have to burn because I have more than six months... but in the paper maché head, we put a huge firecracker, it was like the size of a hot dog... then we drenched the missionary in gasoline, then we lit the fuse. The fuse burned out, and we thought it was a dud.... as we started to think of what to do next, BBBBOOOOOMMM!!!! The head exploded and the body burst into flames!! It was soooo cool!! From now on, thats what Im doiung for new years!

Well, Im doing good, and it was great talking to you all!! Love you guys! And, tell everyone to be patient please, im trying to write to everyone! Love You!!
