July 23, 2007 - Sister Neuenschwander's funeral

WOW!! Mom! What a great opportunity that you all had to go to the funeral, and listen to the prophets, seers and revelators of this dispensation! Im happy that you guys were able to feel the spirit so strongly there. Thanks for telling me that story! My first week has been fine! Im a little tired but im going to have to deal with it because... well, im going to be a ZL til the end of my mission!! Its great being able to help other missionaries, and there are some good Elders and Sisters in our Zone. When we had our district meetings on Thursday, I introduced myself and met my group.. it was fine. I got familiar with my sector, and we found some people here and there so it was good. I was a little overwhelmed but, I keep in mind that whatever happens, is what the lord wants to happen.

Hey, everyone here tells me that to get a MBA in buisness is hard.. is that true? I was just wondering how would that be? Could you ask Uncle Hema? What is his email?
How are the other Young men in the familydoing? Tolu, Thor... Marquel? Ihope that Grandpa and grandma are doing ok!

Well, mom, do you have any fun games that you know, that I could play in family home evenings? Im really good here, the people here in the city have alot more money, so they are a little more arrogant, and proud. But, they have better education, and so most of them know the bible really well. But Im fine mom, tell everyone that I love them, and to Haz lo Justo... to just be good. Love ya Mom!!

Hi Son!

How are you doing? How is the new zone treating you -- I bet there is much work to be done. Hope you're not spending too much time admiring your bidet (that's how you spell the fancy toilet name...it's one of those French terms) or eating too much pizza at Pizza Hut! What a great leadership experience for you -- another leadership experience of many you will have in your lifetime, I'm sure! How was your first week in the new zone? Tell us all about it! We had quite a week, too, and I wanted to share just a little bit of it.

On Tuesday, was Sister Leanne Neuenschwander's funeral. I took the day off to help in the kitchen as the Stonecreek Ward Relief Society was planning to feed a lot of people. The day before, Helam went to help SC Ward set up chairs. I think they planned on 1,000 people attending! Anyways, the best part I wanted to share with you is that this experience confirmed to me that our Father in Heaven, our Savior, and their servants here on earth care for each one of us individually! I was there early in the kitchen before I think even the hearst arrived. Suddenly, Elder N was there in the kitchen and we all had a chance to hug him, shake his hand, be thanked by him, and be comforted by HIM! Dad arrived midway through the viewing. You know he works with Jeff at Delta. I asked him if he had a chance to go through the line and see Jeff yet and, shy as Dad is, he didn't want to go by himself so he asked me to go with him. I left the kitchen and went to stand in a loooooong line. Dad told me he didn't know what to say, so I told him not to worry about saying anything, I told him to be himself. As we approached the guest book, I noticed right in front of us Elder Jensen had signed in. I tapped him on the shoulder (yes, Dad nearly DIED when I did that...), and asked if they were the Jensens who lived across the street from Mt View High in Orem. He smiled and turned to me as I reintroduced myself as their long-ago neighbor Pania Murray. He gave me an update on his daughter/my friend Laura, then I asked if he was just in Ecuador a few months ago. He said that, yes, he had visited the North and South missionaries. I told him we had a missionary in the north. Suddenly, he clapped Dad on the shoulder and said, "Elder Heimuli is your son!? Lakei, I made that BYU connection when I learned his name but I had no idea he was also a Murray." As smiles and tears of gratitude clouded our vision, Elder Jensen confirmed that rice and beans are treating you very well. It made our hearts so happy to know a servant of the Lord had recently seen you and was right in front of us in line to let us know you were healthy and happy! When we entered the chapel, there were 36 members of the Quorum of the Seventy on the stand behind Pres. Broderick. Even more exciting, was when in walked Elder Robert D. Hales, Boyd K. Packer, Dallin H. Oaks, and Russell M. Nelson -- wow. I didn't think the Spirit was ever felt more strongly than at that moment, but I was wrong. It got even stronger when Pres. Thomas S. Monson walked right past me up the aisle and onto the stand. As Teri Jones played the beautiful organ music, even though there were over 1000 people there, you could have heard a pin drop, it was so reverent. What a wonderful legacy Sis. Neuenschwander left behind! Then I saw the side door open and before we could even see anyone, we all felt him. The Prophet of the Lord was very, very close! In complete unison, the entire congregation stood, without anyone even saying a word. There was total reverence, just the beautiful organ music playing, and in he walked, assisted only by his cane. He turned to the brethren on the stand and waved; they waved back. Then he turned to us and waved, and motioned for us to sit down. Words cannot describe the feelings that soared through my mind and heart. I was so grateful to be in that place at that time. Bishop Nordfors got to sit by the Prophet, and Bishop did a great job of conducting the service. Jeff N said to tell you hello.

Stay obedient to the mission rules, and help your missionaries do the same, okay? You saw what happened in Tama's mission, they can't email anymore or go online. Satan is one smart guy -- and tries to do all he can to thwart the very important work of which you are a part. We love you very much!!!!

Love lots,
MOM
