Letter for the Family

April 14, 2008

¡Hola Familia! Pues, no estoy seguro si vayan a entender lo que les voy a escribir. Solo, quise a mostrarles cuanto he aprendido yo aquí en Ecuador.

Well… for those of you who don´t speak Spanish, I´m not going to translate it, haha. But the point that I wanted to make is there. Thanks to the Lord, I speak Spanish…weird huh. Do you think that I could have learned this on my own? The correct answer is no. I took Spanish for two years before, and received solid C-´s all through junior high.

But here, I bore my testimony to strangers, and conversed with Evangelist Pastors, and Jehovah´s Witnesses. Could I have done that on my own? No, the Lord was with me the whole time. I didn´t even know that the original church of Christ disappeared and that Joseph Smith restored it, until I came on the mission. Did the Lord bless me because I was on a mission? Yes and No. Yes, because he has changed me while I´ve been here. And I, in turn, have been a tool in changing other people. And No because He has always blessed me. I just didn´t realize how much until I came on a mission. He was always with me, even before the mission. I just didn´t notice he was there, I think that sometimes we don´t give him enough credit as He deserves. You forget that He is with you all too. I know that sometimes it doesn´t seem like that when things don´t go your way. But when that happens, STOP and look around, the Lord is trying to tell you something.

The mission has been an eye-opener, for me and for my family. May we continue to build up the Church wherever we are. If you have served a mission, Be the type of member that you needed when you were a missionary. If you never served a mission, just be a friend to anyone especially members who are struggling. May the Lord bless you all, and I leave you with my testimony: I know that this Church is the True Church, and since its true (like I learned from the lips of the Lord´s anointed) what else matters? I love you all, and am so very grateful for you.

P.S. I can´t wait to see you all in about two weeks… but don´t worry, I´m not trunky.
