Hi Son!

How are you? Well, let's see, Hevynn's 13th birthday, I think I told you all about that already, didn't I? If not, she did in fact turn 13, there was nothing I could do to stop it. I printed out your email and took it to her parent-teacher conference I had with her and her counselor Tuesday morning, and she was so excited to get your Happy Birthday wish. I have a funny story to tell you about my big reality check. Also, Helam was thrilled to get an email from you. He just looks up to you so much -- thank you for being such a great example!

Back to my reality check at Hevynn's SEOP. So I walk into the counselor's office with her and there's this bald guy with gray sideburns at his desk -- man, he looked old. I was pretty happy knowing here was an experienced, wiser person who was advising our students at Centerville Jr High. Then he jumps right into how he grew up on a farm (like most old people we know, right?) growing pumpkins...and he starts to talk about how when he was young, he remembers throwing pumpkins like footballs while he and his brothers listened to BYU football games on the radio and one of their most exciting times when pretending to be "Heimuli right up the middle!" -- talk about making me feel like an old futt. I thought, "How is this possible that this old man is younger than me? I'm not any older!" Wow. And then I remember we have a son on a mission and, yep, WE ARE OLD! Anyways, Hevynn thought that was hilarious. So did Heels. Even Houston got a chuckle out of it. Only dad and I weren't laughing...and you, of course. I'm sure you're not laughing either, right?!?!

Saturday was Viewmont vs. Alta -- both of Alta's PeeWee and Jr teams were undefeated. Alta's PeeWee team (Houston's age) is still undefeated. Poor Houston's team lost 6-0. It was a tough game and Houston played so well. Uncle Tini, Momi and Marsha came and brought shoyu chicken and rice to eat in between games. I saw Chris Carpenter and Kyle Ariotti there. I didn't even recognize Chris until he started asking about you. Coach Gunter was there and gave me this huge, awesome photo of you at the Hillcrest playoff game, running in the snow, when you rushed for over 100 yards. Grandpa and Nate came in time for Helam's game, which Viewmont won 19-12! Helam did very well, so they are still undefeated, and Alta is no longer undefeated. Saturday night, Jordan came over at 11PM, just arrived from his cousin's wedding in Idaho. He stayed until 2:30AM, just laughing and talking with me, dad, Heels and Hevynn. It was so fun but sure made us miss you a lot.

Sunday, right before the closing song in Sacrament meeting, Bishop Nordfors got up and announced the Stake Presidency would be here next Sunday to change our ward boundaries. We have 640 people in our ward now, and the other wards barely have anyone coming to their sacrament meetings, so these boundary changes will affect 7 of the 9 wards in our stake. We don't know any details but I will probably have lots to say about that in my next week's email.

The youth were quite emotional in Sunday School and Young Women's but I encouraged them to stay positive. We have such great people in our ward, it will be a great blessing to spread them out among the other wards if that's what the Stake Presidency decides to do. I'm just worried we will lose youth again but there's nothing to do but have faith and see what happens.

Sunday afternoon, I got to meet Rinda Alldredge from Kanab. Her son, Andy Alldredge, is in your mission -- he's been there about a year, I think.

Sunday night, I visited Betty Lopez, so we could have a missionary mom chat. Can you believe you'll hit your 6-month mark on November 3rd? And Ben will hit his 1 year mark on November 22nd? She told me wonderful stories about Ben. His Samoan is so good now. He was assigned to the island of Savaii where everyone was members but no one was active. He stayed there 4 months and ended up helping to reactive the people and set up not one, but TWO, wards on that island. They named the wards David O. McKay 1 and David O. McKay 2. There are also 2 small islands where missionaries have never been before...and guess who got called to go there and open up the work? Yes, Ben! He is now the 1st Counselor in the Branch Presidency which he and his companion helped to organize. Isn't it wonderful! I am constantly amazed, but should not be amazed at all, by the great work you and your friends are doing.

I don't know if you heard this but Sunday morning, an earthquake hit Hawaii (6.6 on the Richter scale) about 26 miles off the Kona Coast -- that's big and they were worried about it setting of tsunamis. We couldn't get hold of anyone because all phone service was out. Finally, Feao and Dad touched base and they are all fine. I called Aunty Kookie and she said Tama and Kastle are fine, too.

So that's it for the family. We are all fine and now, how are you doing? How are your investigators? Any more baptisms on the horizon?

Please let me know when you receive the package with your lenses. I only sent half of them in case it got lost in the mail. How is Elder Huerta? I hope you are doing great! Dad put a little more money in your account. Be sure to manage your finances carefully. We are trying to do the same. Otherwise, just keep being faithful and obedient, working and praying hard, and I know Heavenly Father will bless you. He has definitely been blessing us. We have so much more love in our home and I know it's because of your example. I love you so very much and want to make sure you never forget to let us know if you need anything, okay?

Love lots,
MOM
